On 30 June 2022 Brian Deese, White House Director of the National Economic Council, told the American people (and the world) all we need to know about how he, and rest of the global ruling class feel about us – the regular working people of the world.
You may have missed it, and even if you didn’t, it may have passed you by innocuously, such was the bland bureaucratic language he used. But if one rewinds and considers Deese’s words, a chilling reality is exposed.
Here’s what he said:
When asked “What do you say to those families that say, 'listen, we can't afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years?’" Deese responded "This is about the future of the Liberal World Order and we have to stand firm."
Formerly the Global Head of Sustainable Investing at BlackRock (surprise surprise) and senior adviser to Barrack Obama, Brian Deese certainly does not have to worry about fuel prices. In fact, he probably owns a Tesla. Much like his boss, Joe Biden, and the rest of the permanent revolving-door bureaucrat class, Deese has not had to worry about money for a long time, if ever. His salary in the Biden admin is $180,000, but during his time at BlackRock he was reportedly pulling down $2.3 million, and his asset portfolio will be sturdily hedged not just against the current inflation, but also against the imminent collapse of the whole sorry system.
So when a guy like Brian Deese tells you that the record high fuel prices are simply a necessary sacrifice we all have to make for the future of the Liberal World Order, you can be sure he’s right there in the trenches with you!
Yes, indeed. Brian Deese can teach us all a thing or two about sacrifice, and high-minded principles like national sovereignty, democracy, and freedom. You see these things are more important than affordable fuel – at least they are important for the people of Ukraine, not so much for we in the West. For once you reach the point where there’s an unelected ex-BlackRock wonk on TV telling you that your hard work and tax money can’t even guarantee you reasonable transport costs – then you have neither national sovereignty nor democracy nor freedom.
But wait, these are the talking points of a far-right conspiracy theorist. Brian Deese is a patriot, surely. Not an American patriot, no – we don’t play like that anymore. That is so 2001. Patriotism is now about being a good global citizen. That’s what the Liberal World Order is about – using our tax dollars to bankroll wars in foreign countries and sacrificing our standard of living to pointlessly prolong an unwinnable conflict.
Wait, that sounds kind of familiar, doesn’t it?
That’s right, it’s nothing new. American hegemony has since World War II relied upon the power and profitability of the military industrial complex, and the reserve status of the US Dollar – both of which in turn rely heavily on war. Nothing new.
The smokescreen isn’t new either. Fuel prices were on the rise long before Putin invaded Ukraine. Indeed, most of the inflation we’re currently experiencing is due to the trillions of dollars that the Fed and other central banks created out of thin air to cover the cost of the Covid lockdowns. The war in Ukraine is being used, as wars always have been, as a distraction.
Nothing new.
But let’s just say for the sake of argument that we did believe the bullshit coming out of the Whitehouse about ‘Putin’s Price hikes’…
…they’re not even bothering to pitch it compellingly!
This is what is new, the way the Washington apparatchiks are speaking to us now. Once upon a time they pitched their military adventures and reckless monetary policies in the context of keeping our standard of living high at home – will it ultimately benefit us? Will we get big screen TVs and cheap credit? Okay then, sign me up, I guess. That was more or less how it went.
But now we’re simply told “This is about the future of the Liberal World Order and we have to stand firm.” In other words, the people must suffer for the greatness of the empire.
There’s no apple pie jingoism like Bush used after 9/11; there’s none of the stately assurances of better times to come that Obama did so well; there aren’t even the tawdry, befuddled lies of the newly minted Biden regime. They just come right out and say it.
Brian Deese and his buddies have become so brazen, so high on their own hubris, that they cannot even be bothered lying to us anymore!
There you have it in black and white (and full HD colour also). It’s not about you, it’s about the future of the Liberal World Order. Get used to it peasant and be thankful that you have any fuel at all – because pretty soon we’re going to take that away from you completely and you’ll need to rent an electric Uber everywhere you go. Sorry, did you not get the memo? Never mind, here’s the crux: By 2030 you’ll own nothing, and YOU’LL BE HAPPY.
The credulous shills will of course argue – ‘Oh, that’s just a conspiracy theory. The Liberal World Order is just the international rules-based order that ensures trade routes, and human rights, and sustainability… and stuff like that!’
Yeah, sorry guy, but exchanging one hodgepodge of impressive sounding jargon for another doesn’t make this any less sinister.
The Liberal World Order is not about some high-minded idea of global cooperation, free trade, and prosperity for all, underpinned by a code of moral rectitude. If that was the case then China would not have a seat on the UN Human Rights Council. If that was the case then the last two years would not have seen the biggest transfer of wealth in history from the working and middle classes to the top 1%. If that was the case then we would not have spent the last twenty years murdering people in the Middle East for no good reason.
The Liberal World Order is about making the super-rich and powerful even more super-rich and powerful. That’s it. It’s true that some of the prosperity created by this giant Ponzi scheme did trickle down to us over the past century, but whatever utopia was briefly created by the Liberal World Order has been eroding now for at least forty years, and in the last decade and a half it has retrenched dramatically.
There is indeed a war going on that is affecting our standard of living and which will continue to make life more and more difficult in the months and years to come. But it is not the war in Ukraine, it is the war on us.
But what am I saying? That’s all just too ludicrous to be true. Rich and powerful people are not monsters who lie to the public and embezzle our wealth, and there’s absolutely no historical evidence to believe such a thing. The sorts of people who would claim otherwise are far right extremists, and if we all just trust the authorities and listen to Brian Deese, everything will be fine in the end.
So the next time you hear someone complaining about the price of fuel, or bread, or milk, or the shortage of baby formula, or that air-travel is a luxury they can no longer afford, or that they’re defaulting on their home loan – then you know exactly what to tell them.
You look them straight in the eye and you tell them in no uncertain terms: Shut up and stop being so selfish. This isn’t about you. It’s about the future of the Liberal World Order.
